The water is wide,
I cannot cross over
汉之广矣，不可泳思！
And neither have Iwings to fly
身无羽翼，不可济思！
Give me a boat thatwill carry two
贻余柏舟，挥楫中流！
And both shall row,my love and I
之子于归，以遨以游！

I leaned my back against an oak
依彼乔木，不可休思！
Thinking it was a mighty tree
强干弱质，不可倚思！
But first it bent, and then it broke
且曲且折，心之忧矣！
Just as my love proved false to me
与子成说，终流离兮！

There is a ship that sails the sea
泛彼柏舟，在彼中洋！
It’s loaded deep, as deep can be
载重载深，自此徂尔！
But not so deep as the love I’m in
爱君久兮，不可比矣！
I know not if I sink or swim
思君子兮，载沉载泳！

琴瑟在御，莫不静好！
Love is a jewel when it is new
